For my A level in Photography I made a hardback book by hand: portraits of local priests and community leaders, the people a town turns to. It finished with two framed prints.

A portrait works when the place says something about the person, so these were made where the people in them spend their days: a carved chair in a church, the pulpit, the aisle, a tapestry of the Last Supper, a squash club. Some were shot on 35mm film alongside digital. The book also included men I met on a trip to Egypt that spring.
