The brief

damex.io is a Gibraltar fintech in crypto and digital payments, selling to businesses and to people. It needed a steady stream of content that made a regulated, technical product feel human, across five social channels, without a big team.

The year I joined, Damex was named Best Local Startup at the Startup Grind Awards 2022, and the job was to keep that momentum going on social.

I first worked with Damex on a work placement in 2021, came back for the 2022 Damex Pro League, and joined full time as Content Creator in October 2022. In March 2024 I was promoted to Social Media Coordinator, running social content and campaigns.

What I did

  • Made the content. Photography, video, Reels and graphics for Instagram, LinkedIn, X, Facebook and TikTok: product launches, events, the team and the people behind the company.
  • Planned the campaigns. Launches, live Q&As and community pushes, planned so each channel got the version that suits it.
  • Ran the numbers. Monthly reporting from every platform’s own data, used to decide what to make more of and what to drop.
  • Filmed the company’s basketball league. The Damex Pro League got its own coverage in 2022 and 2023: see the Damex Pro League case study.

The results

  • Social engagement up 50% in six months, and 7,200 new followers on X, taking the account past 20,000.
  • On X, an average engagement rate of 8.4% across 124 posts from January to April 2024, climbing from 6.7% in January to 10.6% in April.
  • On LinkedIn, 484 new followers from January to May 2024, all organic, with nearly 800 directors and C-level people among the page’s followers.
  • On Instagram, followers up from 3,511 to 4,212 in a year, and 39,508 plays across the account’s 52 Reels.
